My 1-1 singing lessons with children are both for home educated and mainstream educated kids.

Inspired by the ethos of learner-led education within the forest school community, as well as the conviction that children are naturally creative and thoughtful (and we are all naturally musical!), singing lessons for kids combine the opportunity for guidance, form and technical support with the space for the child to take total control of how their lesson unfolds – so that our time together can be an improvised session which responds to, for example, the seasonal change around us as the sky darkens towards deep autumn, and how that might feel in the voice, on the piano, with a percussive instrument. Conversations about songs or how the throat feels, how the body is moving to support the voice, are braided together with the creative flow of the session. Each child is totally individual, and each session will respond to them on their day, that day. We play in order to learn more deeply how to listen.

Instruments: Voice is our first instrument. Children also so have access to other instruments, including piano, ukulele, acoustic guitars, singing bowls, electric bass, clarinet, flute, various child’s instruments such as child’s harp, child’s accordion and percussion, mini analogue synths, harmonica, etc.

I have 17 years of experience teaching grown ups and kids, individually and in groups, and I hold an enhanced DBS certificate.

1:1 child singing lesson rates:

Daytime (9.30-3pm): 45 minutes: £35

after school (3.30-6pm): 45 minutes: £45

Pay-it-forward and concessionary rates are available for those on higher and lower incomes.
